The other day I was thumbing through some old facebook photos looking for a certain picture. I wanted to photochop something for someone’s birthday.
In the process I was floored by the number of friends I have made. Some I have been fortunate enough to meet face to face, others I haven’t met yet, and there are still others that I will never meet. That’s all ok. I’m not a ‘popular’ person.
The striking thing to me is that in each instance, I owe the start of our relationship to social media. We may have been introduced to each other in the comment section of a blog, on Twitter, Faceboook, Linkedin or even Google Plus, and we’ve continued to grow that that relationship perhaps expanding over to other networks like Flickr or YouTube. Without social media none of these people would be in my life. That’s powerful stuff.
So as I was thumbing thru pics – this video just sort of happened.
A few realizations.
As a whole we’re a crazy group of people. We’re not all extroverts. When we meet for the first time it certainly doesn’t feel like it. We do and care a lot for others around us (even those we’ve never met).
While my blog title might be in the form of a rhetorical question, without saying a word these pictures provide the answer.
We are connected
and that makes me smile!
