Now when a person tags you on Facebook that image will show up in your profile. Guess what? That’s a huge opportunity for spammers to reach more people. So let the games begin…
First to pounce… Shelin Michel for Autodriver.com looks like she wasted no time jumping on the spam wagon.
Nice job Shelin!
Now, this is fixable. I can delete the picture, I can change my privacy settings, I can untag myself… but I ask this:
WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO?
Shouldn’t these new profile picture settings be opt in?
Facebook could fix this by simply pulling these images from a photo album we designate. Then it doesn’t matter if it’s our pictures or someone else’s that tags us – we have control over what shows up here:
UPDATE: I did a little searching and it looks like Shelin has been spamming me for a while. She even suggested I like the page AFTER I wrote and published this article. Can we say she has “large attachments”?
UPDATE II: It seems the Tagger doesn’t like to be Tagged… I created this image and then tagged my wayward “friend”. Within a few hours she untagged herself, and untagged me in the original photo. Here’s a actual screenshot of her wall.
