My friend Amy (who writes a most excellent blog at http://www.amycesario.com/ ) asked how to set a Featured Image for her WordPress Blog Posts. I know Amy is doing a lot of videos these days. Her post may consist entirely of an embedded video with perhaps a few words.
Featured Images can be used in a number of different ways. My Home Page on the blog (https://areweconnected.com/) features the last 10 posts as a snippet of each with a thumbnail of that Featured Image I set.
A Featured Image doesn’t even have to show on the post itself. To illustrate that, I’m using a screen capture of the video above where I photoshopped a BIG RED 12 over the top. You’ll see it’s nowhere to be found here in the post – but it is shown on my Home Page.
There’s even a plugin to help set your Featured Images. I found Auto Post Thumbnail in the free WordPress Plugin Directory
So that’s it! Go start using the Featured Image feature of WordPress!
