Just a short post about Pinterest and you owning your own content (again). I’ll keep it simple.
Let’s say you are a real estate agent. Out on Broker Tour you come across wonderful kitchens, bathrooms, balconies, patios, and views all the time. You take pictures of these things when you come across them.
Meanwhile over on Pinterest you have great Boards devoted to these topics.
What happens when someone clicks on an image in Pinterest?
- Since you took these yourself and uploaded them directly to Pinterest – nothing happens.
- If you pinned an image from a website – you’ll be taken to that page in that website.
IDEA:
What if you took these images and uploaded them to your website first and then pinned them?
People clicking on the image would be taken to your website instead!
BONUS:
What if then, you embeded the board into a page on your site as well?
WAIT! Can you do that?
Yes you can. Here’s one of my boards as an example… Of course I’m a guy. I don’t have boards full of inspirational decorating ideas. Instead I have boards like this:
Follow Mike’s board Help me pick a Mt Bike! on Pinterest.
BONUS BONUS: If your site is verified the links back to your site count towards PageRank
* I’m building a website right now for a Pinterest Fanatic with this exact thought. I’m also building a website with a Pinterest styled layout (different client).
