Tip #3 to get more engagement: Write about a local restaurant or business.
Going back into the ‘community‘ discussion from Tip #1 – if you are an active part of the community you’ll know when there’s a new place coming in or opening up. Skip the big chain places – people like to hear about the locally owned small business owners.
Take a minute to reach out to the manager or owners, ask a few questions. Who are they? What did they do before? Why did the decide to go into this business? Bam! You’ve got a great blog post!
Remember you are not in the restaurant review business.
Heck, it doesn’t even have to be a review, just a simple post about the new place.
Don’t forget, when your post goes public, make sure you also inform the owner. They’ll be pleased as punch with the free publicity and share your post with all their friends. As a bonus, guess what is going to happen when you go back in? You’ll be treated like royalty!
This style of post will quickly become your most engaging series of posts.
Hint: When you run out of new places, start doing the same with your favorite established places (or mix them up).
