Do Video.
Yeah I know, it’s scary. But nothing builds engagement like video.
Video will increase your page views as well as your time on site.
VIDEO FOR REAL ESTATE
If you are in real estate the style of video can vary. Video can be a “talking head” style, it could be Listing Videos, Client Testimonials, but the most watched videos you can create are Community Lifestyle videos.
People want to know what it’s going to be like to live there.
I help moderate a Video for Real Estate group on Facebook called “All things Real Estate Video”
In this group we have an interesting compliment of incredible professional film makers and real estate agents just getting started to doing their own video work, to experienced agents who have been doing their own video work for a while. IF you are in real estate and want to join – let me know. We keep the conversation on topic, there’s no selling, and while we may disagree sometimes we keep it nice.
One of the first things you’ll learn is that every video doesn’t need to be “PROFESSIONAL”. Some styles of video work well when they are hand held, off the cuff, and not rehearsed. My friend Jeremy has this horrible stoplight that sometimes takes 4 minutes to go from red to green. When that happens he turns on the iphone video, puts his phone on the steering wheel and he get’s something like this:
My friend Cyndee Hayden captures client testimonials on her iphone and then does a quick edit using iMovie.

VIDEO FOR SMALL BUSINESS
While they don’t have the eye candy (as in beautiful homes) that real estate does a typical small business still has the ability to create engaging video.
If it’s a brick and mortar store, a simple video explaining where the store is, what you offer, and perhaps what makes you unique. Unlike the two examples above, this should be a higher quality, professionally produced video. This video could be up front on your website as well as social platforms like Yelp.
Unlike RE, if you sell small widgets or a service it might be a little hard to get a client testimonial. That’s ok, you probably sell either a product or service. With either you could be creating videos on the specific features of those.
For Products: When you get a new shipment of widgets in – you could be doing a quick little video on what makes these widgets better than the last editions.
For Service: Doing screen capture videos. “How to use this feature of our website” would be a great place to start.
VIDEO AS SEO
YES! Video can help you be found in Google! Just watch this video
That’s Tip #6! Now start doing video! Read the complete series as it builds…
