File this under “just another one of Mike’s crazy ideas”…
You know that when you see an item in Amazon there’s almost always going to be some reviews. Sometimes the reviews are really helpful – right?
Did you also know that sometimes the Amazon reviewers get a little overboard with the process? Take the case of a simple jug of milk. 117 Likes? Is it really that special?
No, it really isn’t special at all. What is special though is the way that people have written lengthy reviews. 1,272 of them!and in the case of this single review, 5,607 people have voted it as the best!
So, it’s really not about the milk. It’s about having a little fun, being creative, and not taking this whole social media thing so seriously.
Back to Birthdays
Back in 2008 it was Jeff Turner’s Birthday and a bunch of people changed their avatars to make it a special day for him. Many did a little photoshop work to make it even better.
For my friend Todd Carpenter’s birthday it was all “photo-chopping”.
It was a good time for all and hopefully we made their day special but there’s a problem… Most people can’t “photo-chop” an image.
Mike’s Slightly Weird Idea
While we can’t expect everyone to become photochop experts, everyone can write. Why not organize a crazy, completely made up story, flash mob of sorts to hit their Facebook Wall, or Twitter, or even Google+? It wouldn’t have to be much, just a paragraph or two. Maybe a hashtag? Not sure what that would be but something akin to #FollowFriday or #justsayin. In the process, we’d all be able to participate, we’d all have a little fun and most of all we’d be making the day very special for the recipient.
Afterall, just think how special that gallon of milk feels!
What do you think? Would you play? Let me know.
