So this Heartbleed thing happened and now everyone needs to change their passwords. Yippee!
I saw a great post on Mashable that explained what sites needed to be changed and what sites did not.
I went through the list noting the sites I needed to change and realized one thing was missing.
They could have provided a direct link to the password change area for each profile.
Since I had to do that anyway – here’s what I came up with.
These links will go right to your password settings if you are logged in already and if not should go to the login area first and redirect once you are logged in.
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=account§ion=password&view
Instagram: https://instagram.com/accounts/password/change/
Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/settings/
Tumblr: https://www.tumblr.com/settings/account?show=changepassword
Google: (non Apps): https://accounts.google.com/b/0/EditPasswd?hl=en as in all of Google’s Products.
Yahoo: https://edit.yahoo.com/config/change_pw
Dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/account#security
Interestingly enough, Linkedin, Twitter, Amazon, Microsoft, AOL, Ebay, PayPal, Evernote, Netflix and even the healthcare.gov site are all ok (no need to change).
Once you’ve changed your passwords you might have to re approve the apps connected to them.
NOTE: Remember how you had that one password and used it for all your sites? Remember how you told yourself you were going to change that? Here’s your chance. Pick a different password for each site. While you are in there – make sure you set up 2 step authentication if they offer it and ALWAYS sign in via HTTPS if possible.
