“Foursquare is a game…”
“It’s all for fun…”
“Who cares if I’m the mayor of Diddly Squat?”
You are right, (and wrong). If I was an Agent, here’s one way in which I could use Foursquare.
You are a neighborhood expert right? Nobody knows the ins and outs of your Hood like you do. It probably even says so on your business card.
Why not create a “Best Of” list for everything in your neighborhood like let’s say Sushi? How hard would that be? I could do it in just a few minutes.
Here’s how. I logged in to Foursquare and found the search box.
Next I did a search for Burgers (something near and dear to my heart) that’s all. Here it is: http://foursquare.com/search?q=Burger&near=Walnut+Creek,+California
Next I right clicked on each title that I wanted to include in my “Best Burger Places around Walnut Creek” list and copied the url to their venue.
For instance In and Out Burger’s venue looks like this http://foursquare.com/venue/131274 (looks boring, right?)
But now I can write a post using these links and create something a little more visual…

HINT: Off the secret menu order a Double Double Animal Style! You’ll thank me for it!
2270 San Ramon Valley Blvd
San Ramon, CA
HINT: The regular size is big, double patty is huge! Sharing 1 order of fries is fine
100 Crescent Drive
Pleasant Hill, CA 94523
HINT: Add Grilled Onions to your cheeseburger. Shakes are very thick. If you order a grilled cheese order it with “vegetables” for a real treat! (it’s just lettuce, tomato and pickles)
1900A Contra Costa Blvd.
Pleasant Hill, CA
HINT: Fries are doubled-fried and perfectly crisp!
1491 Newell Ave
Walnut Creek, CA 94596
HINT: Incredible Burgers for a pool hall. Order the Western with Bacon!
2721 N Main St
Walnut Creek, CA 94597
HINT: For the really daring try the “Ewart” Smoked bacon, grilled onions and brie. Yes, Brie! combine that with their aged beers and you have a winner!
2151 Salvio St
Concord, CA 94520
What do you think? Mind you – that was all cut and paste from my search list and took just a few minutes. Do burgers sell real estate?
No. But think of all the different things you can now make lists of… * All of which keep you top of mind and provide an excellent example that you are the “Neighborhood Expert” you claim to be.
* (hint: Schools, Playgrounds, Farmers Markets, Utility Offices, Post Offices…)

He's an avid hockey fan, rides a mountain bike, sometimes rides a road bike, has a few motorcycles (he had a really fast one, bought a cool orange one, rode a really slow one, and wants a really small one). If that isn't enough, he makes cheese and sourdough bread, loves strong beer and good red wine, and poorly plays the Mandolin.
