Google had a post on their blog simply titled “Promoting modern websites for modern devices in Google search results”
I know you missed it. I didn’t. I watch for things like this.
Here’s what you missed
Starting today, we will indicate to searchers when our algorithms detect pages that may not work on their devices. For example, Adobe Flash is not supported on iOS devices or on Android versions 4.1 and higher, and a page whose contents are mostly Flash may be noted like this:
Fewer and fewer site are still built in flash (except those WIX and drag and drop sites you see advertised on TV) so you probably don’t need to worry about flash. Do you?
But this is only the tip of the iceberg. Is your site mobile friendly? Google has already said they were demoting non mobile friendly sites in the search results.
Their next step will be adding warnings like this to sites that are not Mobile Friendly.
They go to say…
By following the best practices described in Web Fundamentals you can build a responsive web design, which has long been Google’s recommendation for search-friendly sites.
For those that need things to spelled out for them, that means
GET A MOBILE RESPONSIVE WEBSITE NOW!
Ooops! Did I just yell that? Sorry!
Quit living in ‘yesterday’. It’s time to bring your website into the ‘today’. [maxbutton id=”10″]
* for those that know me, yes I have a 72 Westfalia VW Camper, I also have a 68 Porsche 912 Soft Window Targa, and a 76 Honda 550-4 Super Sport. I may drive in the ‘yesterday’ but my marketing and lead generation has to be cutting edge. 😉
