I thought Groups were going away? Actually they are morphing into something a little different.
Should I have a Page or a Group? That depends.
Are you a “brand”? (Most people with a Page are a brand) You want a Page.
Are you a kid’s swim team? You want a group.
One of the things that I didn’t like about old groups is that much of the information stays within the group. That hasn’t changed.
Here’s what’s new
- notifications (like I need more notifications)
- a cool looking group chat thing
- online document sharing and collaboration
One one hand I liked at first was that any member can add anyone else as a member. But then again, do I really want that? What if I started a “Tanya Harding Rocks! group and added all of you? And with the new auto algorithm, if a bunch of your friends are in a group you’ll be dragged into the same group. Now that I think about – that really sucks!
There’s got to be a “OPT OUT” option like they have for Places coming soon.
Simple enough? Now just relax, it’s going to be alright.
