What used to be called G-Suite is now called Google Workspace.
I’ve been doing a lot of custom client work in it lately.
Most know it just as the place they have their email handled (MX Servers) so that they can have cool email addresses like mike@areweconnected.com. Hey! I’ve used it since the beginning for just that!
But, Google Workspace is so much more.
MORE THAN JUST G MAIL
With a Google Workspace account, you also get a full suite of cool tools PLUS a zillion possible add-ons. Google defines these into a few different categories. I’m on the “Business Standard” plan so I get a few more items than the starter plan (starts at $6/mo).
I won’t go into all of these sections but I will show you what’s inside the core services.
Starting at the top, I have a separate Calendar to keep business and personal a little more separated. It doesn’t have to be that way, but I prefer it.
I’m currently not using Currents. It’s kind of like a internal slack channel for your team members. Remember Google +?
Google Drive is a very cool set of tools I love for collaboration. Word docs, spreadsheets, and even slides. Google Chat, Google Meet – I use the crap out of them! It’s on my sidebar of Gmail all day long. I’m a power user!
Groups are cool too but you probably will never use them. So many of the organizations I work for are small teams.
Jamboard is cool virtual white board but waaaaaay too expensive for most.
I don’t think Google is going to keep Google Keep (sorry I’ll stop soon). It’s one of those destined for the graveyard.
SITES! Sorry for yelling! Yes you can build an actual website using Google Sites, but don’t. It’ll be the crappiest site ever. However, I just built a really cool intranet site using this and it rocked for that!
Tasks are great if you plan on using them. Sometimes, usually late in the day, I’ll get an email asking me to do this or that. I might not have time right now, so I add the email to my Tasks and first thing in the morning I have it all there waiting for me!
ADDITIONAL GOOGLE SERVICES:
Those 57 other apps are things like Google Analytics, Google Maps, Google My Business, and so on. There’s a lot of useful stuff in there too! Oh, did I mention YouTube? Yes you can also build out your “business” YouTube Channel and not also have people looking at your weird “personal” videos. Yeah, that’s some of the weird things I like to do away from the computer.
DEAL:
If you haven’t yet, I suggest you start using some of these great tools. I have a 10% OFF code if you sign up using this link: https://referworkspace.app.goo.gl/jdyn and then depending on what plan you choose use one of these two codes.
Here’s Your Super Secret 10% OFF Code:
