Have you ever been tagged in a multiple person message? Sometimes that’s great. Often times when I’m building a Facebook App there is need for a conversation between 4 or 5 people so that we are all on the same page.
But then there are situations where someone includes me (and a bunch of other people) in a conversation that I really didn’t need to be in. When they do it’s like I opened a instant chat window with everyone who was in that conversation. Not only that, I get a notification for every reply added to the thread. Ugg!
I was tagged like this more than a week ago. Instead of “leaving the conversation” immediately I watched (with a little amusement) at people struggling with this when it knowing full well that it was going to be a blog post.
This doesn’t happen with everyone. Quite a few people successfully removed themselves just fine. Facebook makes it really easy to leave a conversation like that. It’s right there under that settings button, yet…
Need a little more help?
Here’s a video just for you!
The funny thing to me is how the simplest of stuff, the most obvious of stuff is sometimes seemingly impossible for people to find. If that sounds like you, this post is for you. Now you know two things…
1. Don’t start a conversation with hundreds of people (to begin with), and
2. How to remove yourself quickly and easily if and when someone else includes you.
I graciously accept your thank you messages! 😉
