Most of the time I just let things like this pass. Every now and again… Not so much.
My email notification says I was just invited to an Open House!
I really have to wonder why? After all, I’m not in the market, I don’t sell real estate, and the distance to this event is only 3,000 miles away!
Yeah, I know this happens all the time. What caught my eye was the person who invited me. It wasn’t a person at all but a profile operating as a business. That’s a big no no! Then I noticed they didn’t just invite me, they invited over 3,700 people from all across the country. So much for my feeling special.
So I have a few choices to make.
- I can ignore the event all together and just pile it on every other event that’s meaningless to me.
- I can go see who it was that added me to this event (http://www.facebook.com/fasttrackproperties) and block them and / or report them.
- I can remove the event and even report it as spam.
I chose to leave a very deliberate comment on the event’s wall. (http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=179980565399374)
Yeah I know, maybe a little snarky, but this was all before my 2nd cup of coffee. What was even better was one of the organizers responses…
Nicole, I love the fire (really) and your effort to sell the place is admirable (really) but I beg to differ with you. I believe you might (need a new business development consultant) (REALLY!)
Let’s all start doing this social media stuff better – ok?
UPDATE:
Incredible but true. The same people that I mentioned have invited 3,700 people to ye a different open house! You can’t make this stuff up. http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=131851766900753
