This Part ONE of a TWO Part Series.
We’ve come to expect that if you mention another site on your posts or pages, that we won’t have to search Google for that site, you’ll have a link we can click on right there in your post. It’s just a common internet courtesy.

But sending people to an outside source incorrectly is also losing a viewer, a viewer that you worked incredibly hard to get in the first place.
For 2 Minute Tuesday this week let’s look at the WHY and the WHEN that your links should open in a new window.

WE WORK SO HARD TO GET VIEWERS…
So why are you sending them away?
It’s a give and take. It’s something that everyone has come to expect. As an Example: If you mention Up Dog you wouldn’t leave your viewers hanging, you would provide a link to the site or reference. It’s a courtesy to your viewers but if you do it incorrectly you are essentially sending them away from your site, never to see them again.
It’s one thing to understand the WHY, for the next post I’ll show you how to do that and you’ll be amazed at how easy it is!

NOTE: I have a few links to outside sources in this post and a few links to places inside my own site. I’ve chosen to make the inside open naturally and the outside links open in a new window. Of course this is all just a suggestion for your viewer’s browser and they ultimately control what opens where.
