2 Minute Tuesday: How to give credit for a Featured Image

Giving the photographer credit when you use an unsplash picture for your post is easy.
But, how would you give the photographer credit when you use an image just for the Featured Image?

That great question was literally just asked by Lesley Sarson moments ago!

Wait! The 2 Minute Tuesday isn’t just a podcast? Nope! It’ll take the format of anything that makes sense.

First, lets cover some ground work. For a regular picture that you put right in the middle of the post, you can give them credit in the caption area. Here’s a picture of a cat on the table.

How did I do that? When you upload a photo there are 4 boxes, 3 of which you always want to put text into. If you want a Caption, you can use that one too.

But that’s not the best way. The best way would be to give them back a link like this.

Lesley was commenting on a post from back in 2013 about “Always set a Featured Image” in which I dropped a ProTip at the bottom saying that the Featured Image doesn’t always have to be one of the images you used in the body of your post.

Aha! When you upload (or assign) a Featured Image the caption area doesn’t show – so if you are using that as the photo credit, well… That’s what she’s asking. And you can guess what the answer is right? I’ll add the photo credit at the bottom of the post with links.

Pro Tip: Make sure the links you use also open in a new window. You don’t want to lose your viewers, right? Oh yeah, here’s that puppy dog credit…
