Blogging for Newbies Questions

If you were to look at a heat map of real estate blogging in the United States, Seattle would be en fuego!

It’s RED HOT.

Lucky me, I’ll be moderating a panel of bonafide blogstars for REBarCamp Seattle this coming week and couldn’t be more excited!

Why?

I get to ask Matt Goyer, Rich Jacobson, Ben Kakimoto and Rhonda Porter anything you want.

In case you didn’t know…

Matt Goyer Matt is Director of Online Marketing at Redfin and also writes at http://www.urbnlivn.com/
Rich Jacobson Rich is a Real Estate Broker, former Community Builder at ActiveRain, and hyperlocal blogger at http://soundbiteblog.com/
Ben Kakimoto Ben is another hyperlocal blogger but he brings a twist.  Ben focuses on a niche.  He’s a Condo Blogger at http://seattlecondosandlofts.com/
Rhonda Porter Rhonda has been bringing alive the usually dry topic of mortgages for quite a few years now.  If you haven’t read The Mortgage Porter – you should

And I have help!  Christian Nossum of http://www.dealsinseattle.com will be roaming the audience.  I promise, if you are there LIVE you’ll get a fast paced, enthusiastic session packed to the brim with answers.

So, assuming you were new to blogging (and maybe you are), what would you want me to ask them?  How did they get started?  How often to post?  How many words?  ROI?  Is it worth it?  Best platform to use?

I don’t know.  What would you like to know?

Just leave a comment here, on Facebook or even Twitter.

For me, my first question is going to be to ask Rich, “Where does he get those great looking shirts?”

Linda – excited to be there as well.
Remember, it was your fault that I came last year! Besides the obvious benefit of any REBC – it was there that you took my Facebook Profile Picture http://www.facebook.com/MikeMueller

I guess I’d like to ask how to keep motivated. it seems a lot of new bloggers burn out rather quickly.

I think another question would be how to build your tags or categories with the most SEO benefit.

Great questions Bud! Do you think they burn out due to a lack of a plan or that they don’t see an immediate return? Or something else?
I LOVE the Tags vs Categories question!

I think new bloggers burn out because of both. Also, for a while, it seems like you’re just blogging and no one’s listening. I used to think that when I first got started, and I stopped for about two weeks. Then I got a handful of angry emails asking why I stopped blogging. I still struggle with getting engaging comments, and I am still trying to tweak my posts to get them to act.

Having a solid plan I think would also help. Maybe laying out a rough schedule of blog posts by category would be a good plan to write for new (and old bloggers)
