The M-Files: Jim Walberg

So there I was, completing another Social Media Audit for a client…

The M-FilesI was going piece by piece through their posts, their tweets, their videos and compiling a list of suggestions. Towards the bottom of page 3 or 4 I wrote the words,

…turn the camera around

As fast as I was typing the thought came to me that I should also be doing more of the same.  You know what I mean by that right?

I used to have a weekly podcast called The M-Files which shined the spotlight on new and up and coming stars in the tech and social media field.  I loved doing it.  The show was broadcast live as well as archived to iTunes.  In audio terms it was my way of “turning the microphone around” and shining the light on them.

IJay, Mike, Derek and Jim’d love to still be doing it and I would today but…

The truth is, it was a downright chore to find people to schedule each week.  Not that there wasn’t plenty of people I wanted, and not that they weren’t happy to be on the show, it was a whole lot of  “Can you do it this week?  Yeah, it’s at 9 am e.s.t.  No it’s a live call in show, we can’t do it at 10.  Ok, how about next week?

That’s where video is better.  I can shoot when it’s convenient.  I go to a lot of conferences and always have a camera.  I can record these videos as I travel across the country!

I can then edit and jazz it up a little before launching it to the public.

So that’s my story.

Welcome to the video version of The M-Files!

Episode #1: Jim Walberg

Like he says, you can find him just by Googling his name “Jim Walberg”.  He’s one of the most upbeat people I know.  He’s caring, he’s warm and he’s a wonderful human being.  He has an uncanny way of making strangers he just met completely comfortable.  Tack on to that that he sails, he’s a cancer survivor, and smart cookie and that’s someone you should get to know better.  That’s just a snippet of Jim Walberg!

Here’s some links to his WordPress Blog, his Facebook Page and his Twitter.  Oh, and thanks for giving me the time Jim!
