Want me to LIKE your page?

I get a few Facebook LIKE Page Requests daily.  You know the ones…

“Your friend, Joe Schmoe liked Joe Schmoe, Social Media Ninja on Facebook and suggested you like it too.”

When I say I get a few, I get quite a few!  They come in to my email inbox and go directly to a special folder.  I typically don’t read them.  I typically don’t click to see the usually boring and lame page my “friend” spammed me with.  I don’t click on the link and I don’t suggest it to my friends (continuing the spam cycle).

Unless I have time

If I have nothing better to do.  If the Dogs have been fed, the phone calls returned, the bills have been paid and even the garbage has been taken out, sometimes I’ll go to the page (sometimes).  Once there, I usually find out that they haven’t taken the time to upload a simple profile picture, or sent me to a boring and nearly blank wall or even better yet I had one that sent me to the info tab which only had the year it was founded!

When that happens, instead of gouging my eyes out or punishing myself like Silas for doing something I knew better of, I’ll send a private message to the “friend” who thoughtfully suggested the page to me asking if they want to hire me to build something a bit more engaging and proper?

That’s right!  In essence I’m spamming them back.

One of my biggest complains about the “suggest to friends”  link is that you cannot personalize the outgoing message.  I’d much rather get a personalized message from you on WHY you want me to go to your page.

Does your Page Suck? Don’t answer that, it’s rhetorical.  Just think about how your page looks to the average consumer before you send them there.  Just like an open house or a listing – have you staged it or is it a contractor special?

So go ahead!  Suggest your page to me.  I’ve got a response.
