I read a direct message from someone and I have had a nagging, barking cough and a little bit of a temperature. I think I need Twyquil.

Hi Mike, I was lucky enough to only have noticed the message once already in Twitter - which saved me from the Phishing attempt. I had a bad feeling and looked at the Twitter blog - and they had posted about it. It is certainly easy to work quickly and click - and even though I will notice the tone of a Twitterer if I know them, I don’t know all my contacts, so tone is somewhat a moot point in these cases. (That said, these and the Facebook “I saw your picture on this site” attempts are becoming more and more suspicious everyday).

I use DM quite a bit (to and from messages from followers). Fortunately for me, I know them and the type of messages they send. So when I get a DM that sounds something to the tune of: "hey check this out...blah, blah, blah" my BS detector goes off and I hit [Delete].

It's unfortunate to think that more and more people might grow weary of things like the DM feature (we all use it, it's convenient and easy to reach someone ya know). But it also hi-lights something to think about and that's: be weary of which 3rd party sites you submit your password too. Just sayin'...

Hi Missy - I think the Facebook scam was a bit more malicious as well. I have a browser addon that detects a redirect and throws a warning at you even before the page opens. Sometimes we get to working so fast we make mistakes. Although I didn't fall for this one there have been plenty of times I clicked and then looked.
Oh well.

Mike, I got 2 from people I didn't think would be sending me a direct message so I didn't click them on. Thank goodness. There was something similiar going around FB to watch a video and so I stopped clicking those on too.
